Reckoning

We missed Sports Day this year
and my favourite event
which is the tug-of-war
where it’s kids against parents
and every year
I think surely the parents will win
but we are outnumbered
and it’s a beautiful proof each time
that if enough vulnerable people
join together
they can bring a reckoning
to the powerful
few.
