The tenacity of love

Falling in and out of love
is a dippy concept
as though love was a pothole
an accident
waiting to happen.

Do not mistake love
for want;

it is not the blossoms
it is the roots
and they take time
to burrow.

And do not mistake the end
for anger;

once you have roots
it takes a long time
to starve them.

If your love could speak
it would say

your storms do not intimidate me
I am not so easily
vanquished.
