A thank you letter to Spring
For being so patient,
hoarding your secrets
under the cold stomp of the earth,
trusting
that the day would come
when you could spill it all.
For air that nibbles
with the back door open,
reminding us
we too
are alive.
For flowers like ‘80s prom dresses,
you get away with it
because you are so
optimistic.
For longer days,
the sun
a spotlight,
reminding us
we are worth
watching.
