For many of us
we are not being called upon
to be brave
or wise
or strong
only patient
a mild battle
to rein in our preferences
a simmering
thin broth
of restraint
so as we consider
those who are truly suffering
let’s try not to complain
about how it feels for us
this small burden
of delay.
