We finally let our daughter
see her best friend
with a sidewalk between them
they set up chairs
then blankets
and ran up and down the street
filling the six feet between them
with so much laughter
it didn’t look strange by the end
and I wondered as I often do
at our ability
to be clay
as the world makes
new shapes
with us again.
