It’s cold this time of year
and wet
like the bottom of a lake
no hope
of drying out
it’s tempting
to stay near stoves
and armchairs
but we must walk
out into the cold mouth
of winter
it is unsparing
but it is
alive.
It’s cold this time of year
and wet
like the bottom of a lake
no hope
of drying out
it’s tempting
to stay near stoves
and armchairs
but we must walk
out into the cold mouth
of winter
it is unsparing
but it is
alive.
