The sound of growing

The myth is that nature is quiet.
But what is soundless
is a supermarket
after everyone has left for the day,
or an empty plane parked on the tarmac,
scrubbed and sterile and still.
Nature has no such dial.
Even when it looks subdued,
if you listen closely
you can hear it,
wildly
growing.
