I don’t have a tattoo
but I see the appeal.
We have so much choice:
divorce
career change
politics.
It must feel good
to commit to something
and engrave it
into your flesh.
It’s why I write poems,
to drag my pen behind me
like a knife,
carving into each moment:
“she noticed this.”
