I love books for the discreet way
they build worlds inside me
that nobody else can see
but I couldn’t do without movies
cuddled up on a couch
with my favourite people
as one story pours itself into us
at the same time
like we are puppets
and the filmmaker holds the strings
on each of us
making our emotions dance
the most beautiful synchronized leak
of laughter and tears.
