You didn’t choose each other
yet it couldn’t have been anyone else
by a perfect science I can’t explain
and you have a choice now so why not love
because although it started with one of you
and now there are two
it somehow adds up to forever
and it doesn’t matter
how many miles between you
or how many regrets
those are just tiny knots
in a string that will never break
for it was not just used to make you both
and all those faces on our wall who came before
but you will reach for that string too
to pull your own beloved children
into this big and hopeful world
