The kids were at their musical theatre class
and instead of going for coffee
like we planned
we stayed home and played Heads Up
for two hours
which might seem too trivial
for the immortality of a poem
unless you were there
and saw us laughing so hard
our skin bounced against our bones
and you knew
that it had been ages
since we crawled inside the clock
dangling ourselves giddily in time
instead of being chased
around and around
by its two relentless hands.
