He is so proud
of the sound that punches the air
more than a yell
it is shrill
his eyes widen
with delight
at the way it scratches
his throat
at the way I shake my head
each time
and implore him to
use an inside voice
a game
of cause and effect
of again and again
they say he is
trying to get a rise out of you
but I salute
his field of inquiry
his unique technique
to gather empirical evidence
on the phenomena
of me.
