I heard a story today
about Sam Roberts
and his music producer named Youth
who produced Paul McCartney
and Pink Floyd and others.
They say he sits
in a rocking chair
while they record music
and he makes oil paintings
of their songs.
Only when a song
is good enough
does he stop painting
and get out of his rocking chair
and dance
and that’s when they know
the song is done.

but I looked
and the ones I would want,
the unfinished ones,
are nowhere
to be found.
