You stood outside
after our guests had left
your head arched back
staring at the sky
after a few minutes
you marched up to me
as I was tidying up
mama, where does the dark hide
I tried to explain
that the dark doesn’t go away
and neither does the light
it’s us that spins
you nodded
and asked for blueberries
and then before you fell asleep
you asked me
why the dark doesn’t like it
when we spin.
