The palm trees look out of place
nestled in the cold fog
up against bushy pines
and other sensible winter stock.
Their skinny scaly bodies shiver
in the wind like flamingos
in a wet zoo in Seattle.
It makes the park feel lonely
the way a movie set
looks perfect
in a methodical
unnatural way.
