In defense of being idle
What did we all do
in coffee shops
before computers
and iphones
no portal of answers
to explore
no emails tugging
at our duty to respond
were there really so many of us
sitting alone
simple palette
of coffee and mug
our thoughts off-leash
thinking nothing in particular
being that old-fashioned thing
called idle.

We use our busy-ness as a shield from truly experiencing what is going on around us and in us.

I know!!! I get very anxious when I am able to just sit. Have to force myself not to connect in.
