What did we all do
in coffee shops
before computers
and iphones
no portal of answers
to explore
no emails tugging
at our duty to respond
were there really so many of us
sitting alone
simple palette
of coffee and mug
our thoughts off-leash
thinking nothing in particular
being that old-fashioned thing
called idle.
